PROFILE OF THE AMBASSADOR
H.E. Mohammad Habibu Tijani is a Ghanaian politician and former Deputy Minister (Finance and Administration) for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration from 2017 to 2021. He was a member of the Sixth and Seventh Parliaments of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, representing the Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party from January 2013 until December 2020. During his tenure in Parliament he served on the House Committee, the Works and Housing Committee and the Business Committee. Prior to his election as a Member of Parliament, H.E. Tijani served as the District Chief Executive of Yendi from 2001 to 2005 and as the Municipal Chief Executive from 2005 to 2009 when the status of the area was upgraded to a municipality.
H.E. Tijani is also a trained teacher with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from the Valley View University. HE also holds a Master of Arts degree in Conflict, Peace and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Accra as well as a Master of Governance and Leadership (MGL) degree from the Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Accra. He taught at the Islamic No.1 Juniour High School in Yendi from 1989 to 1995, and at the Yendi Seniour High School from1995 to 2000. He also served as a Teaching Assistant at the Department for the Study of Religions, University of Ghana, Legon during the 2000 – 2001 academic year. From 2009 to 2013, prior to his election as a Member of Parliament, H.E. Tijani served in the Ghana Education Service, Central Gonja District Office in Buipe.
